Founded in 1933 by Matilde Carcano, one of Italy's pioneering female entrepreneurs, the company has remained in the hands of women through a direct line of succession. Matilde was followed by Elena, Silvia, and now Elena Maria Carla, each bringing innovation and growth to the family business.

In 2021, ICMA launched the brand Manamant to make its renowned papers accessible to everyone. Manamant was created to cater to private individuals who could not meet the minimum order quantities required by the family business. This led to the creation of an eCommerce platform, making ICMA's high-quality papers available to a broader audience.
